David’s Secret BBQ Sauce
David is the husband of my friend, Mandy from Texas Trimmy! Those Texans, they know how to make BBQ! This recipe is amazing. It's no longer a secret. I told them we've got to share this goodness!! And with their permission, here it is! You'll want to double the recipe. Use it in all of your favorite BBQ dishes. Ribs, Chicken, Hot Shredded BBQ Chicken Sandwiches! We like dipping our chicken fingers in it too!
Print Pin RateServings: 1 cup
Ingredients
- 1/2 small onion chopped
- 1/2 TBL olive oil
- 1 tsp molasses
- 1/4 cup THM Gentle Sweet add more for sweeter
- 3 T Worcestershire add more for tangier
Ketchup
- 6 oz can tomato paste
- 3/4 cup water
- 2 TBL apple cider vinegar
- 1 tsp mineral salt
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 2 tsp THM Super Sweet
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, sauté the onion and olive oil until soft and golden. In a small mixing bowl, mix the ketchup ingredients. If using store bought, on plan, ketchup, you will need 1 cup. Now add everything else to the saucepan. If you like it sweeter add more gentle sweet. If you like it tangier, add more worcestershire sauce.
- After cooking it all together, I blend in my vitamix to get rid of the onion chunks. (But you don’t have to! I’ve got picky kids!)
Notes
If you double the recipe, you do not need to increase the molasses. This is a Fuel Pull on the Trim Healthy Mama plan!
